Work-related injuries are common. People at work can injure their hands, wrists, shoulders, back, knees, ankles and feet during any number of activities. We offer complete evaluation, therapy and functional capacity evaluations to resolve work-related problems and help you prevent accidents that could affect your livelihood.

How can help?
Millions of Americans are injured while working. Common work injuries include spine disorders - particularly in the heavy-machinery industries - and cumulative trauma from repetitive motions, which causes carpal tunnel syndrome and tendonitis. Cumulative-trauma injuries continue to increase as computer usage spreads throughout business and industry.

Musculoskeletal disorders are among the most prevalent medical problems. They affect 7% of the population and account for 14% of physician visits and 19% of hospital stays. Work-related musculoskeletal disorders are caused or made worse by the work environment. They can cause severe, often debilitating symptoms such as pain, numbness and tingling. They can also reduce worker productivity by causing missed days, varying degrees of disability and increased Workers' Compensation costs.

Forceful, prolonged or repetitive motions with your hands, frequent or heavy lifting, moving or carrying heavy objects and awkward postures can all contribute to work injuries. Work conditions that combine these risk factors will also increase the risk for musculoskeletal injuries. The level of risk depends on how long people are exposed to these conditions, how often they are exposed and the level of exposure.

Complete evaluation & treatment.
Patient care begins with an extensive evaluation. Then we develop a personalized treatment program. We have the training, credentials and ability to resolve work-related injuries. Our functional capacity evaluations (FCEs) provide a systematic process for assessing individual physical functional abilities. The FCE matches individual performance to the demands of a specific work activity or occupation. The FCE establishes the physical level of work an individual can perform. It also helps determine job placement, accommodation or return to work.

The FCE program is designed to help bring about pain relief and return to function for the injured employee through physical therapy. Case managers coordinate necessary treatment to ensure continuity of care for the injured employee. In addition, employers and their affiliates receive prompt and efficient communication from Upper Perk & New Hope Physical Therapy & Sports Rehab.

We resolve a work injury based on the individual's needs and work situation. We consider the evidence and incorporate only those evidence-based therapies known to get good results. The goal of our customized therapy is to improve a worker's ability to perform work tasks safely while reducing pain and increasing mobility.
